Webinar - The battery value chain
Historically, most lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) would be found in portable electronic devices, however this changed when electric vehicles (EVs) started to become increasingly popular. Nowadays we see EV development accelerating globally and becoming the leading source of consumption, with LIBs preferred because they are lighter, perform better over a wider range of temperatures and have a higher electrochemical potential than alternative batteries. The second largest application for batteries is grid energy storage, driven by renewable energy. Battery cells comprise cathode, anode, electrolyte, solvent and separator film. Additives are also used to improve performance.
