Chemistry, technology and production economics for various approaches to making 2,6-dimethyl naphthalene. BP Amoco, ExxonMobil/Kobe Steel, Optatech, and Chevron processes are assessed. Sensitivity of PEN costs as a function of 2,6-DMN is analyzed.
