Global polyolefins demand growth continued to slow down in 2019 and the downturn is exacerbated by the Covid-19 crisis. The automotive and construction sectors in particular plunged into a contraction of unprecedented severity. As a result, demand for durable goods declined considerably.
However, the overall polyolefins demand has been fairly resilient thanks to consumer and medical packaging and PPE (personal protective equipment) that are essential to the pandemic response. The global polyolefins market is expected to contract in 2020 but less severe than the GDP outlook.
This Webinar will address key questions:
- How has the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the polyolefins industry? What recovery is expected in the short to medium term and what are the regional trends?
- What trends are influencing supply and which regions are currently investing in new capacity?
- With increasing protectionism, how is global trade likely to evolve?
- Longer term, how will circularity influence polyolefins demand?
