There were passionate and inspiring presentations as well as conversations once again at Nexant’s Breakfast Event in partnership with WILL (Women in leadership in Latin American) and ACCESS (Women in Energy)
Our free event was held at The City Centre in the heart of London’s square mile and brought together industry professionals, with the aim of discussing the two key dynamics currently facing the sector:
- Managing change in energy security and sustainability in the external environment.
- Addressing organisational change and promoting inclusion and sustainability.
Lord Howell, Former Secretary of State for Energy in the UK
Lord Howell gave a very well received talk about energy transformation and costs as well as the influence of Asia on energy markets, supply and distribution chains. He also spoke about the role of civil nuclear in low carbon future and faltering nature of UK ambitions.
Dr Carole Nakhle, Chief Executive Officer of Crystol Energy
Dr Nakhle spoke to the room about the fundamental changes in oil markets and implications on prices. She also discussed new strategic directions of traditional major producers and the current outlook for the downstream industry.
Ieda Gomes, Senior Visiting Fellow, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. Co-Chair Access Women in Energy. Director at WILL Latam
Ieda’s speech focused natural gas supply and demand, emerging markets are key demand drivers. As well as LNG’s role in addressing power shortages in emerging markets and natural gas and lastly renewable energy the industries options and hurdles
Silvia Pavoni, Economics Editor at The Banker, and Director at WILL
Silvia spoke to delegates about how environmental, social and governance factors are reshaping finance, climate change-related risks and financial disclosures. She also went in to detail about policy action and regulations.
