Isopropanol​ (2026 Program)

​This techno-economic report offers a review of chemistry, properties, technology, and development trends of the production of isopropanol (IPA), also known as isopropyl alcohol (propan-2-ol). The report provides production economics for direct propylene hydration, indirect propylene hydration and acetone hydrogenation processes across different global locations (United States, Western Europe, China, Middle East and India). Both standalone and integrated production configurations are assessed to quantify the impact of feedstock integration on production economics. In addition, the report includes sensitivity analysis to evaluate the effects of changes in key feedstock and utility prices, including market conditions prior to the Middle East conflict, as well as a carbon intensity assessment of the various production pathways.
